The San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum aboard USS MIDWAY offers the Intruder community a truly unique opportunity to put the “Intruder Story” before the public.
This is our opportunity to create a lasting memorial for the many sacrifices made by the members of our community – the men and women who built, maintained, and flew the Intruder. The San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum is already a huge success, and will attract hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, and provides the absolute best venue for us to present the “Intruder Story” to the widest possible audience.
YOU can help make this a reality!
CASH DONATIONS
Please follow these simple steps to ensure that all donations will be fully tax deductible and that your contributions are recognized and applied to our goals:
1. Make out your check to the “Intruder Association”
The Intruder Association 3. We will then account for them and pass them on to the SDACM to processing. The SDACM will accept our donations and loans and will keep the funds segregated in a separate accounting area, to be used as we designate for the key expenses. Preserving the Intruder Story
The Intruder Ready Room and Display Aircraft aboard the nation’s newest and largest Aircraft Carrier Museum Save our heritage and history for generations to come!
Establish a lasting memorial for those of our community who made the ultimate sacrifice THE OPPORTUNITY
The MIDWAY is the only aircraft carrier open to the public which hosted A-6 squadrons, and her history with the Intruder spans two decades and two wars. The mission focus of the SDACM – concentrating solely on US Carrier Aviation heritage – offers the very best setting for a comprehensive and lasting memorial to our community’s history. Further, the museum can support and accept contributions of all types and levels – from monetary donations to artifacts and oral history to hands-on volunteer positions.
At this point, there are a grand total of eight exhibit aircraft aboard MIDWAY, one of which is an A-6 (BuNo 151782). The airframe has been lovingly restored with a first-rate generic paint scheme. THE CHALLENGE
We will need a minimum of $10,000 just to secure a ten-year lease on Ready Room FIVE, but we will also need additional funds to renovate the spaces and even more to develop and maintain the displays. In the spirit of “aiming high” we set our goals accordingly.
All this adds up to an initial fundraising goal of $50,000!
Donors will also have the opportunity to help shape the nature and content of our exhibits.
All donations will be recognized by the Intruder Association, and donations to the memory of an individual or crew will also be recorded and honored.
Contributors will be asked to provide their recommendations on the types of displays, activities, and artifacts to be featured by the Association. SPONSORSHIPS
