Subject: Update: A-6 Crew Arlington Memorial BIOS

Great Intruder Alumni,

Hope this email finds you doing well. Happy New Year!

Had the honor to attend the Memorial Service this morning at Arlington for LTs Mike McCormick and Alan Clark, the last aircraft lost, an A-6, in Vietnam, Jan 10, 1973. Thirty years ago tomorrow and not forgotten! Crew was with VA-115.

What a great turnout on a cold dreary snowy day. Only thing missing was an Intruder flyover. Garth VanSickle said that unless someone was deceased or handicap just about the entire squadron of pilots and B/Ns were there. Made me proud of my roots and heritage. A great shot in the arm for me to fight harder and win the battles in the Pentagon and DC arena to ensure our Navy and particularly aviation remains ROCK SOLID and ready to win the day! This service helped me reflect on what Naval Aviation is all about and why I continue to love it.

Mike's family was there for the service but did not have a burial since that occurred I believe in Hawaii. Alan's wife gave the scripture readings and his son, a toddler at the time, now an Air Force F-16 pilot, gave an unbelievably awesome eulogy. Wish I could get a copy. He was buried afterwards.

Best regards and very respectfully,
Killer
